during the Royal Parks Half event weekend
RBC Race for the Kids, Saturday 7 October
We are pleased to announce that the RBC Race for the Kids, a Family 5km Fun Run, returns to Hyde Park on Saturday 7 October 2023.
The route for the RBC Race for the Kids event takes place entirely within Hyde Park.
Please note that the start of the race will take place on the closed section of South Carriage Drive and park pathways on the route may be busier than usual.

Royal Parks Half Marathon
The Royal Parks Half Marathon will take place on Sunday 8 October 2023.
16,000 runners will be raising money for good causes. It will be necessary to close some roads in the Royal Parks and Westminster for the event to take place. All road closures have been agreed in advance with Westminster City Council and Transport for London.
- Roads within the Hyde Park will be closed 00:01 Sunday 8 October to 05:00 Monday 9 October
- Roads within St James’s Park will be closed 06:00 – dusk in line with Park closures on Sunday 8 October
- Roads within Westminster will be closed 07:00 - 12:00 on Sunday 8 October
During this period, ongoing works and closures at Piccadilly Underpass will remain in place. This will affect eastbound travel from Knightsbridge to Mayfair, with significant diversion routes in place around Hyde Park from Kensington Church St.
Westbound journeys from Mayfair to Knightsbridge are possible using Piccadilly Underpass, with one lane open. Hyde Park Corner will be shut in both directions between 07:00 - 12:00.
Drivers are advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow additional time.
Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens will be open to the public as usual across the event weekend however, users may be directed to different gates to access the Parks on Sunday 8 October 2023. Pedestrian and emergency vehicle access across the route will be maintained at all times.
Cycle paths
All cycle paths in Hyde Park will be closed Friday 6 – Sunday 8 October inclusive including the Cycleway 3.
The Cycleway 3 will be closed through The Green Park and St James’ Park on Sunday 8 October.
All cycle paths in Kensington Gardens will be closed on Sunday 8 October.
