Doing it
This will of course depend very much on your plan. But there are a few key things to remember:
- You need a good system for handling the money you receive.
- You need to be persistent, gently remind people who have pledged but not committed sponsorship of the valuable cause that you are supporting and the rigours of training.
- If you are using your charity’s or employer’s logo and materials in any publicity materials, you should ideally check with them first.
- If you are running fundraising activities as well as asking for sponsorship, check out any law and best practice issues that govern them.
- Keep your charity informed, they will want to inspire you, and help you reach your target.
- Try to collect copies of press coverage, they will be a great memento and your charity will be interested to see them.
